Caitlin Bacher:
Why isn’t your automated webinar making seven-figures yet?
Well, today that’s what we’re going to talk about.
I’m going to be sharing 3 things that every automated webinar needs in order to be successful right now.
So let’s get into it.
My name is Caitlin Bacher, founder and CEO of Scale With Success®, and I’m on a mission to help course creators all over the world, grow their business in a way that is profitable and scalable. We are sharing revealing conversations about what it really takes to scale an online course business to millions of dollars per year. Join us here to discover the tough decisions we’ve had to make, the biggest failures we’ve had to bounce back from, and the learnings that emerged every step of the way. We are so grateful that we have the chance to share it all with you right here on Scale With Success®, The Podcast Built for Course Creators™. Let’s get started.
Thing #1 is that you really want to hook people in with a great story.
Storytelling is one of those things that kind of gets a bad rap when it comes to webinars.
And I think one of the reasons why that happens is because many of us have signed up for and watched a lot of different webinars and we’ve all attended those certain webinars where the host is very well meaning, but the story that they are telling goes on and on and on, and it’s told in a way that doesn’t seem relevant to us at all.
And so because we have those bad experiences with listening to stories, on top of the fact that while it feels a little bit weird to talk about yourself sometimes, because of that, a lot of us are very reluctant to tell our stories online.
I wanted to share a couple ways that hopefully can kind of shift your perspective on sharing your story on your webinar because again and again, I see it’s one of the best ways to warm up and convert a cold audience and a way to build an even deeper connection with the audience that’s already warmed up.
Here’s something to consider.
Instead of using your story as a way to talk at your audience, use it as a tool to invite your audience in.
Now you’re probably thinking, “Caitlin, that sounds crazy. How can I do that in an automated webinar? I’m not there to respond live. So how can I possibly make a deep connection with my audience?”
Well, I want you to think about something. If you are like me, you absolutely love movies. If I’m being totally honest, if you are like me, you probably grew up watching a whole lot of soap operas.
Now I was there. I was listening to One Life To Live. I was watching Young and The Restless. I was watching All My Children.
So needless to say, all of those soap operas that I used to watch and all of the movies that I enjoy watching even today are prerecorded. They are not live.
And yet as a viewer, I am still able to build a deep connection with many of the characters on the screen.
Have you ever watched a movie or maybe a soap opera and felt a really deep connection with any of the characters?
Maybe they’ll say something that will resonate so deeply with you, and it will reflect back to you all of the thoughts and experiences that you have had for yourself.
A good story is a good story. And whether it’s told live or whether it is a story that has been prerecorded, it does have the power to create a deep connection between you and your audience.
Now, storytelling is a big part of the method that we use to help clients turn their online course into a six or seven-figure business.
➡ So if storytelling on webinars or social media is something that you want to learn more about, send me a DM on Instagram and maybe I can create a future podcast episode about it.
Thing #2 that every automated webinar needs in order to generate seven-figures is that you need to focus on your framework.
Do you ever feel that maybe you are teaching too much on your webinar or maybe that you’re giving away too much free value?
It seems like the webinar community is split into two camps.
- So camp #1 is constantly saying “give more value, give more value. You’re not giving enough value“.
- And camp #2 is saying “stop giving so much value. Stop it. People are not buying because you are giving away too much value“.
Well, I disagree with both.
I think the conversation needs to shift away from the amount of value given on a webinar towards asking questions like:
- What kind of value am I really going to give my audience?
- What do I need to offer them that is going to meet them where they are now and take them where they need to go next?
- How can I bring clarity around the specific framework or methodology that I teach inside my online course without overwhelming my audience with all of the nitty gritty details?
As course creators, our goal is not to withhold value. It’s to give the right kind of value.
One of the things that we help our clients do is to create a unique framework or methodology for their business. They can use this framework or methodology to then describe the value of their course.
Creating a new framework to describe the contents of your existing course does not mean that you need to change anything about your course. It’s simply a tool to help people understand what makes your approach to solving their problems different and unique.
By the time someone shows up to your webinar, there’s a good chance that they have seen a ton of content from a lot of different people who are all promising them that they are able to solve their problems.
So what makes your approach to solving their particular problem unique and different?
What makes it so powerful?
A framework or method that outlines your overall approach to helping them get the transformation they desire helps your audience understand this.
For example, the method I created that helps course creators turn their course into a profitable six or seven-figure is comprised of 5 Pillars that I call The Scale Method.
The 5 Pillars of The Scale Method are key to facilitating the transformation from course creator to six or seven-figure CEO.
I’m able to focus teaching my framework on my own automated webinar to help them better understand what makes our approach to scaling so effective.

Thing #3, that every automated webinar needs in order to be successful is that you want to package your offer with a powerful, fast-acting bonus.
When it comes to bonuses, a lot of course creators tend to think that more is more, so they include just about everything and the kitchen sink into their bonus package.
I have a lot of thoughts around creating a great bonus package, and I’m not going to get into all the details of that today.
But one of the things that I do want to talk about is the power of a well designed, fast-acting bonus.
Now, the reality is that your fast-acting bonus can have a major impact on your webinar results.
So here’s what I mean.
Let’s say that you have about 8% of your webinar attendees that are an absolute yes, meaning they’re totally sold and they just can’t wait to press the buy button and get inside of your online course.
Now, you probably also have a percentage of your audience that they’re just not going to buy, right? They’re not going to buy and they’re never going to buy and that’s totally fine.
But what’s going to happen is the majority of people that are watching your webinar are somewhere in the middle. They’re on the fence and they aren’t sure if they’re ready to enroll.
They may think that your online course looks great and that it works really well for other people, but for whatever reason, they may have an objection about why it won’t work for them.
Well, if you were able to identify all of those fence sitters, then you’d be able to discover the most popular objection.
You’d be able to discover the most popular reason why people think it won’t work for them, and here’s the great part.
Once you know that information, then you are able to design a fast acting bonus that will help them overcome that specific objection, and it’s the objection that most of your audience has.
For example, the majority of your audience may watch your webinar and think to themselves “your course sounds awesome, but it won’t work for me because my kids are really picky eaters”.
That gives you the information you need to create a special guide for how to serve even the pickiest of eaters.
Maybe people are watching your webinar and thinking, “you know what? I would love to buy that course, but it’s not going to work for me because I live in an apartment and I don’t have a big backyard”. Well, that gives you the information that you need to create a special guide on how to make your method work even in a small space.
The key to making a fast-acting bonus effective is that it has to be the most popular objection.
And the only way to find that out is to do some good old fashioned research.
➡ And if you want a podcast episode on the exact questions that I tell my clients to ask people who don’t buy on their webinars, make sure to hit me up on Instagram with a DM and let me know.
So the three ways that you can increase the effectiveness of your automated webinar and be able to bring in six or even seven-figures per year are:
- Hook people in with a great story,
- Focus on your framework,
- Package it with a powerful, fast-acting bonus.
