You have an online course business and you’re looking for some proven REALISTIC strategies that you can use to boost your revenue this year.
Today I’m sharing 3 strategic moves you can start implementing NOW to get results. So, here we go.
1. Automate your sales process
If you follow me on IG and see all the client results I’ve been sharing on my stories and highlights, then you already know that switching to an automated sales process – instead of launching all the time – can be incredibly lucrative. I’ve got clients that have gone from six figure years with launching to six figure MONTHS after using our method to create their own Profitable Sales Engine™. One result I recently shared was from a woman who went from $30k in annual course revenue to over $650k in just 8 months. I have others from people who made $20k, or even $40k the very first day they turned on their Profitable Sales Engine™.
A Profitable Sales Engine™ is NOT an old-fashioned funnel – as you can see from the results I just shared.
Most evergreen funnels and systems don’t work in today’s online marketplace for one big reason. They are desperately lacking in connection – and maybe that was good enough to sell 10 years ago (or even 5 years ago), but it CERTAINLY is not enough for today.
Now, more than ever consumers are demanding more connection from brands BEFORE they make a purchasing decision – and this can feel really overwhelming to you if the way you try to meet those demands is solely through manual effort.
So much of what I see struggling course creators trying right now when it comes to evergreen funnels is primarily based on connection through pain. And yes, that works to a point – but, it’s not a 100% connection – which is much more complex than just mentioning a few pain points.
Connection is also about shared values and understanding what’s important to your prospect now and 3 years from now.
You need to be able to articulate their immediate challenges, their distant fears, their short-term demands and their future aspirations.
That kind of connection isn’t easy for most course creators to do, which is why we’ve created formulas and frameworks in painstaking detail that walk our clients through each piece of connection-based content they’ll create inside their Profitable Sales Engine™.
2. Stack your promotions
I know what you’re thinking. Caitlin, I thought if I had an evergreen funnel up and running I NEVER had to launch again.
Right, you don’t have to launch – but you DO have to promote. Whether you’re using organic or paid traffic, you need to actually send people TO your Profitable Sales Engine™. One example of how to do this is exactly what I do on Instagram. I make short videos where I connect, give, and then at the end of the video I include a CTA/Call To Action that directs people straight to my Profitable Sales Engine™.
But, there’s other fun stuff you can do as well that DON’T require a big, fancy launch and a giant team – and when you stack them, the rewards REALLY add up.
Another super simple promotion that we share with all our clients is called The Cash Maximizer Formula™. It consists of 4 videos that are 7-10 minutes in length and they’re design to be dripped out over a 10 day period. The best thing about this strategy is that you can schedule it in advance, up to four times per year WITHOUT having to show up live or anything like that.
If you schedule 4 rounds to go out over the next 12 months, then you don’t even need to think about it and it is then automatically STACKED on top of the usual organic or paid content that you’re putting out – and it’s completely automated.
Then if you’re REALLY looking to leverage things you can stack ANOTHER promotion that is totally automated on top of that, called The Profitable Partnership™. This one is so effective and generates extra leads AND sales because it’s completely different from the way most people run affiliate programs. We’ve run this one ourselves so many times that we have templates for everything you need to do – it’s pretty much failproof to implement and can be scheduled in advance so – AGAIN – you are stacking automated promotions so you can REALLY build momentum over time.
3. Use your voice.
It cuts me to my core when I hear course creators tell me they believe they haven’t been able to hit their revenue goals because they’re bad at sales and marketing.
Then when I look at their funnel I’m like – What are you doing?? This doesn’t sound like you at all!!
They explain it’s because they hired an agency to do it for them or they worked with a coach who told them this was the ONLY way to do it. Well, if you are one of our clients – that is NOT happening on our watch.
It’s not that you’re bad at marketing, it’s that you haven’t learned how to extract what you know about your customers and put it into a framework that is flexible enough to hit all the right notes WITHOUT sounding like everyone else.
The truth is that nobody, and I mean NOBODY knows your business like you do. All the answers are inside of you, it’s just that nobody has asked you the right questions to find them.
I think that so many of us course creators have been taught NOT to trust our voice and that our ideas and perspectives are NOT enough and that the only way to get results is to say what some expert tells us to say in the same way that they say it.
But, then we’re all just carbon copies of each other. So, nobody pays attention to you because you blend in with everyone else and you’re left thinking that you’re not good at sales and marketing.
If you’ve been in that boat before and it feels like you’ve LOST your voice, here’s what you can do to find it again. Start journaling everyday, morning, noon, night – it doesn’t matter WHEN you do it, just do it. Write about what you disagree with in your industry. Write about the rumors and myths that your audience keeps believing. Write about the good, the bad, and the ugly WITHOUT stopping or censoring yourself to make it perfect. Eventually, you’ll find that one sentence you wrote inspires you to make a social media post and that post turns into a podcast and that podcast turns into and email and that email turns into another life that only you have the ability to change.
There are people out there right now who need your help. They’ve tried everything, nothing seems to work and they are thinking that THEY are un-helpable. But, YOU know the truth. YOU know that THEY are not the problem – all the beliefs they’ve been holding and outdated strategies they’ve been implementing are the problem and if you REALLY want to make a difference then you MUST start to use your voice and your words to connect with those who need it most.
