At that moment I realized that she had NO CLUE that social media took care of ALL those things.

The FIRST thing you need to know about social media is that it can help drive massive amounts of free traffic to your website.
So, HOW do you get social media to send you traffic?
You start by creating content on your website (blog posts, podcasts, videos, whatever) consistently so you have a reason to send people there.
THEN you tell your audience to check out that free content!
You want people to keep clicking over to your website because it will help grow your email list (more on that in a second)
AND it will help people familiarize themselves with your brand.
Not to mention, all that free traffic is going to help increase your SEO so your content shows up in Google search results.
WANT TO GROW YOUR EMAIL LIST?
The second thing you need to know about social media is that it should be growing your email list for you!
If your website is optimized for conversions, then you already have plenty of ways for people to opt-in to your email list once they visit your website.
This might be through an announcement bar at the top of your website or even a giant header (that’s what I use) with a call to action button that tells people to grab a free download in exchange for their email address.
There’s ANOTHER way to use social media to grow your list.
You can send people directly to a landing page where they can immediately sign up for your freebie.
Now, this strategy works BEST if you have been warming your social media audience with great content. They already know, like, and trust you. So, when you send them over to your landing page, they’re going to sign up.
I have landing pages that are converting traffic from social media up to 70%. That’s a lot of emails!
WANT TO GET MORE CUSTOMERS?
The third thing that you need to know about social media is that you can use it to make money.
Now I know there are people who will tell you that social media is for engaging, not selling…but that is the OLD way of thinking.
I have a friend who earned $200,000 in affiliate income from a SINGLE launch without EVER sending an email to her list.
Here’s the deal, on a good day only 30% of your email subscribers will read what you send them. So, why aren’t they reading your emails?
